Marshall has come a long way from his popular screen adaptation of the musical "Chicago." Unlike that film, "Nine" is better than the Broadway show from which it has been cunningly adapted by composer-lyricist Maury Yeston with screenwriters Michael Tolkin and the late Anthony Minghella.
