'Next to Normal' is a powerful piece of musical theater
The rock musical "Next to Normal," which runs through Sunday at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, offers us an utterly contemporary portrait of a middle-class family that might be unremarkable except for one problem -- the mother's ongoing psychic nightmare that takes a toll on each family member.
