Up the River
In early March, I received an invitation from Kate Powers, a theater director. She was staging Tracy Letts' Superior Donuts, a play I had performed in 2008 at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater and, a year later, at the Music Box in New York. I originated the role of Arthur Przybyszewski, a Vietnam-era draft-evader who has climbed into a hole (the family donut shop in Uptown Chicago) and pulled it in after him.
