Ensemble Theatre's 'Animals Out of Paper' engrossing, with a few wrinkles by Andrea Simakis

At first, Rajiv Joseph's oddball tale seems too thematically obvious. But soon, as the characters deepen and their relationships grow more complicated, like the pattern for that mesh sleeve, the play becomes an affecting treatise on the human heart " its stubborn resilience and terrible fragility.
