One of the biggest hits of the spring was Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Off-Broadway musical, Hamilton, which officially opens on Broadway Aug. 6. But it will not be the first time a show of that title and subject has appeared on Broadway. Nearly a century ago dramatic actor George Arliss starred as the Founding Father in Hamilton, a play he co-wrote with Mary P. Hamlin.
