Edward Albee, Pulitzer-prize winning playwright, dies at 88 by Pat Saperstein, Pat Saperstein

Edward Albee, who shocked Broadway audiences with his play "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" in 1962, died Friday at his home in Montauk, Long Island in New York. He was 88.His work was known for its biting dialogue and absurd elements. Although "Virginia Woolf" was denied the Pulitzer Prize for being too controversial, Albee won Pulitzers for "A Delicate Balance," "Seascape" and "Three Tall Women."
