Split Treated With Wit, by Frank Scheck

Lately, it's easy to guess how old a playwright is. If the piece is about parents dying, the writer is middle-age. If it's about parents splitting up, the playwright's in his or her 20s or 30s. Judging by A Feminine Ending, playwright Sarah Treem falls into the latter camp. This effort about a young female composer coping with career indecision, romantic complications and her parents' dissolving marriage displays a preciousness that's only partly alleviated by its undeniable wit.
