Theater review: An imperfect but fresh 'Anne of Green Gables' at Goodspeed offers a modern perspective on a classic by Christopher Arnott

A new musical based on the children's classic "Anne of Green Gables," with a modern sensibility, is at the Goodspeed Opera House through Sept. 4. The show has some obvious problems that still need to be resolved but is distinguished by its fresh take on the story, and some powerfully emotional songs.
