That Toddlin’ Town Has Energy to Burn by John Anderson

The relentless motion of "Chicago” -- adapted from the 1975 Bob Fosse musical that was revived on Broadway to enormous success in 1996 -- undermines whatever emotional momentum is intended by the marriage of music and drama. But that's better than having it move like a slow amusement ride.
