East meets West in David Henry Hwang's 'Chinglish'
In David Henry Hwang's Broadway comedy, "Chinglish," a Cleveland sign-maker eagerly, if somewhat naively, treks to China to expand his family business. Negotiations ensue, along with snags. Around the time someone says "my hands are tied" which is translated as "he's into bondage," you know this global exchange is going to be a bumpy ride.
