When a flyer advertising The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players' December production of W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan's The Mikado — featuring four Caucasian actors portraying Japanese characters in the classic Gilbert and Sullivan opera — was sent out to theatregoers, members of the Asian community took offense.
