Fan snapshots make 'Smithsonian Rock and Roll' a candid compendium of musical history
In 2015, the Smithsonian asked music lovers to submit photos they'd taken of their favorite rock 'n' rollers. Four-thousand pictures later, the book "Smithsonian Rock and Roll: Live and Unseen," by industry vet Bill Bentley, emerged as a catalog of musical history with a candid, fan-based edge.
