Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-AvonI feel slightly sorry for RSC directors of Shakespeare's most popular comedy. Every three years or so they are expected to come up with a brand-new version effacing memories of what went before. Nancy Meckler's production starts awkwardly, but it undergoes a transformation that echoes the play itself and induces a sense of collective ecstasy.The opening is certainly odd. …
